A U.S. military service member deployed in Kuwait is reported missing following an alleged kidnapping during a personal visit to Germany, according to early information from authorities. The soldier, identified as Daniel Andrew, had traveled to Germany to visit his fiancée, Sabine König.
Investigators familiar with the case indicate that the incident may have involved the tracking of the fiancée’s mobile phone, which reportedly enabled the kidnappers to locate the service member. Officials later identified a location believed to have been arranged for the soldier’s release after a ransom demand of €2,000. However, sources say the suspects fled the scene with both the ransom and the hostage before authorities could intervene.
U.S. military officials, in coordination with local law enforcement, moved quickly after receiving intelligence suggesting the hostage was about to be transferred. When responders arrived, the site had already been cleared, and no further communication with the abductors or the missing soldier was established.
Daniel Andrew’s current whereabouts remain unknown. German police have confirmed that an active investigation is ongoing and stated that further action is expected as new leads emerge. Due to the sensitive nature of the case, officials have declined to provide additional details.
Family members have been informed, and U.S. and German authorities continue to work closely together in efforts to locate the missing service member.
